Unemployment record low

18th October 2017

Witham MP Priti Patel has welcomed the release of new national figures showing that the unemployment rate has fallen to 4.3%, the lowest level since 1975. A record 32.10 million people are now in employment in the UK and the claimant count in Witham in September 2017 has fallen 3% since the previous month and is around 70% lower than its peak under the last Labour Government. Priti said:

“Unemployment continues to fall in Britain as a result of the strong economy established by Conservatives in Government. In Witham we are seeing fewer people on benefits and more people with the security of a regular pay packet.”
