Rivenhall Incinerator Consultation

20th June 2017

Witham MP Priti Patel has called on the public to respond to the latest consultation on the Rivenhall incinerator. The Environment Agency has today (20 June 2017) published their initial view on the latest licence application for the site and have stated that they are minded to approve the application. In December 2016 the Environment Agency refused a previous application. A further round of public consultation now follows before a final decision on the licence will be reached. The site also requires a planning consent to increase the size of the chimney stack. Priti said:

"Residents across this part of Essex will be disappointed by the initial views of the Environment Agency. There are serious local concerns about this site and further scrutiny is now required of the proposals. I would encourage residents to submit responses to the current round of consultant to let the Environment Agency know how they feel. I will continue to support local residents and campaigners opposed to the incinerator."
