Remembrance

13th November 2017

Witham MP Priti Patel remembered the sacrifice and bravery of the Armed Forces laying wreaths and attending war memorials on Armistice Day and Remembrance Sunday. At eleven o'clock on Saturday 11th November Priti observed two minutes silence and laid a poppy wreath at the Witham War Memorial joining the Royal British Legion and local residents in remembering the moment the guns fell silent in the First World War. In Remembrance Sunday, Priti laid a wreath at the war memorial in Tollesbury before joining the parade through Witham in the afternoon. Wreaths were also laid at war memorials across the Witham constituency in Wickham Bishops, Hatfield Peverel, Terling, Colchester and Tiptree on Priti's behalf. Priti said:

“The courage, sacrifice and bravery of the fallen and all those who fought in both world wars and other conflicts should never be forgotten.

“We owe our freedoms to them and as we stand in silence we can only but imagine the horrors that they have faced.

“It is humbling to stand at our war memorials alongside veterans and their families and pay tribute to them for their dedication and bravery.”
