Queen's Birthday Honours

18th June 2017

Witham MP Priti Patel has welcomed former longstanding local councillor Rodney Bass receiving an OBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours list for services to local government. Mr Bass had been an elected local councillor for fifty years until he retired at last month's local elections. The nomination for an honour was supported by Priti, who commented:

"Rodney has been a stalwart of local government in Essex for five decades and has an outstanding record of public service. During his time in public office he has driven forward campaigns for infrastructure and supported good financial management in local councils."

"I have had the privilege of working closely with Rodney and he is a worthy recipient of this honour which recognises his outstanding contribution to our County."
