Local MP, Priti Patel, has contacted NHS chiefs and Secretary of State, Jeremy Hunt MP, to approve funds for the new Witham health centre. Mid Essex Clinical Commissioning Group (MECCG) has submitted plans to NHS England to secure the vital funds to kick-start the design process. Priti commented:
“I am delighted to report to residents that my campaign to improve quality and access to health care in Witham, by building a new multipurpose and fully integrated health centre, is making progress.
I have been working closely with MECCG over the past few months to develop a coherent business case based on patient needs. It will be submitted to the NHS to approve funding for the next stages.
I outlined to the Health Secretary, Jeremy Hunt, the difficulties my constituents experience on a regular basis trying to get an appointment with their GP and the pressures this creates for local A&E departments. With my strong representation, I expect Mr Hunt to recognise the desperate need for Witham to have a fully integrated and multipurpose surgery and grant the funding for the business case.”
