A12 widening

23rd January 2017

Witham MP Priti Patel is encouraging residents and businesses to have their say on the A12 widening scheme consultation, which was launched today [23 January 2017]. The consultation, which is running until 3 March 2017, is asking for views on the proposals to widen the A12 into a three-lane carriageway between the Boreham interchange in Chelmsford, junction 19, to the Marks Tey interchange, junction 25. The Conservative Government has committed funding to this scheme and work is expected to start in 2020. Priti, who has been campaigning for improvements to the A12, said:

“The widening of the A12 will reduce congestion and delays on this vital economic corridor. These works will support the transformation of our economy in Essex and will help to create new jobs and economic growth.”

“I have been campaigning for these improvements and the consultation and the funding committed by the Government means we are now taking a big step forward. Given the huge importance of this road, I hope as many people as possible will engage with the consultation and hep inform the final decision on the widened route.”
